Happy Unity Week!

Some of you must ask what unity week is, before going to it’s story, let’s first know the importance of it. 

Unity is the most important key factor when is comes to a nation, or in other words, nation is no more a nation if unity doesn’t exists in it. Because unity provides strength, power, protection, growth and success. It also increases the chances of survival of a nation. 

Even Qura’n emphasizes on Unity between Muslims and says: 

“And hold firmly to the rope of Allah all together and do not become divided. And remember the favor of Allah upon you – when you were enemies and He brought your hearts together and you became, by His favor, brothers. And you were on the edge of a pit of the Fire, and He saved you from it. Thus does Allah make clear to you His verses that you may be guided.” (03:103)

“The believers are but one brotherhood, so make peace between your brothers. And be mindful of Allah so you may be shown mercy.” (49:10)

Knowing the Importance of unity, we can now conclude that Islam’s enemies are playing very wisely to remove Islam’s name. Because they have targetted the ‘unity’ of us, Muslims, Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) notion. They simply and wisely bring some unnecessary conflicts between two main groups of Islam, Shiites and Sunnis. Which forms great hate and makes both groups disrespect each other which leads to disunity of Islam and makes Islam loose it’s genuine power and strength.

For this reason, many well knowledged Shiite and Sunni scholars have tried to tie a bond between these groups and the most successful of all, was Ayatollah Khomeini(R).

He actually decided to name the week from 12th Rabi ul-Awal till 17th Rabi ul-Awal as the Unity Week, because 12 is the birthday anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) according to most common Sunni traditions whereas Shiites believe 17th as birthday anniversary according to their most common traditions. This would cause conflicts evey year between both groups. For removing these kind of belief-conflicts he decided to name this week as Unity week and ever since then, Shiites and Sunnis have been celebrating Prophet’s birthday anniversary together, the whole week, in many countries specially Iran.

But, is one week enough for being united? Or let me ask, do we really get united in this one week? If we do, do we still stay united after the week is over Or do we start hating the other group members once again? 

We should feel so sorry for Prophet’s nation if we’re among those who do the last one. We’ve to feel so sorry for Islam, our religion, which needs us to be united with each other. Which made us learn to call each other brothers and sisters and know each other so. Which it’s name itself is the meaning of the ‘peace’ yet we have conflicts, we fight, we destroy the reputation of Islam. Don’t you think we’ve the responsibility of this? Have we ever thought how’d we face the Prophet on the day of judgement? Will we be counted as right-doers if we continue so? Will the ORIGINAL Islam remain if we continue doing this? 

Obviously not… 

So that’s why, brothers and sisters, we’ve gotten the responsibility of being united as the Muslims of this era. We’ve to prove that Islam is not about wars, but peace and that’s only possible when we, Muslims, ourselves are in peace together. We’ve to show the actual image of Islam which has brought unity, respect, brotherhood and love between us. 

Let’s first start from our own selves, let’s think of what can make these conflicts and fight be over. 

First, let’s look inside of ourselves, see what’s the thing which makes us hate our Muslim brothers and sisters, is it a personal conflict? Our ego not letting you come down? Biased people around us? Things we’ve just heard in our childhood? Misconception?

What else comes to your mind? 

Once we figure it out, we’ll be workings on ourselves to remove these kind of thoughts from our mind and purify our heart by not keeping the hate and not having a bad feeling towards our brothers and sisters.

After figuring out and solving it internally, let’s go for solving it externally, how? By behaving nicely with our brothers and sisters, because our behavior and words represent our personality and whatever we have in our heart. We’ve to also know that we should respect them and their beliefs, even if they differ with ours. We’ve to love and consider them as our brothers and sisters.

Now that we have known these two steps, let’s get to know the other one too. 

Solving it socially, after having a bond with our brothers and sisters, we’ve to make sure the people around us know the importance of unity of Islam and follow it alongside us, so that one day we all see Muslims united and our goal being completed.

I can’t wait to start my responsibility from today, and you have to do that too. Yeah! You’re capable enough for this and you can do this, don’t wait for tomorrow and just start from the point that you are right now, today. Imagine Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) smiling at you on the day of judgement because you have fulfilled his special wish, actually we all will, together, hand in hand.

When the enemies see us all together, united, they’ll have their huge mission failed, and they will have to spend decades for planning their next target, because no matter how many times they attempt to attack us, we’ll all together, united and undefeatable, defeat them! Insha’Allah
