The buzzing of drones would creep into my dreams,
Ruining the beautiful view,
But not tonight, no,
Tonight is a peaceful quiet,
Tonight, I got to sleep too.

It’s been ages since we celebrated,
Since we laughed and danced around the streets with no fear of the gunned fools,
But tonight, we gathered near the golden dome,
Finally tonight, I got to celebrate, too.

The day brought heat and thirst for a water we couldn’t have,
Want for a cooler we didn’t own like you,
Yet tonight, the weather couldn’t have been better,
As tonight, I got to live, too.

And suddenly, a newfound hope spreads in my heart,
Maybe I really would see the day we are freed from the cruel,
I thought it would be a story for the next generation to hear,
But no, tonight,
I got to hope too.

— For once, drones and missiles were aimed towards our opressors, and not us.
